Who we are
Shift + Career Consultancy (“Shift + Career”, “we”) runs the career assessment at shiftcareer.net. We are based in Lebanon. For anything about your data, email support@shiftcareer.net.
What we collect, and where
We keep the two halves of the service apart on purpose.
On this website
- Payment records. When you pay by card, our payment provider (Stripe) handles the card itself; card numbers never touch our servers. We store the payment reference, amount, currency, status, and the email address you give at checkout, so we can confirm your purchase and deliver your report.
- School codes. When you redeem a school code we record which code was used and when, together with a one-way hash of your network address. This is used only to stop codes being abused. We cannot turn the hash back into your address.
- Access tokens. A random, single-use token that unlocks the assessment. It is stored hashed and expires within about two hours.
We do not create student accounts and we do not store your assessment answers on this website.
In the assessment
The questionnaire runs on Typeform. Your answers, and any name or contact details you enter there, are collected by Typeform on our behalf and read only by your assessor in order to write your report. Identifying information is kept separate from the data used for AI-assisted report generation.
Why we use it
- To provide the assessment and deliver your personalized report.
- To confirm payment or a valid school code, and to prevent fraud and abuse.
- To answer your questions and support requests.
- To meet legal and accounting obligations.
We do not sell your information and we do not use it for advertising.
Cookies
This site sets one strictly necessary cookie, sc_at, only after you pay or redeem a code. It holds your temporary access token, is not readable by scripts, and expires within about two hours. We use no analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies, which is why you see no cookie banner.
Who processes data for us
- Stripe for card payments.
- Typeform for the questionnaire and your answers.
- Supabase for our database, hosted in the European Union (Frankfurt).
- Vercel for hosting this website.
- Zoho Mail for email.
Each of them is bound by its own privacy terms and only processes what is needed for its role.
Students under 18
Most of our students are minors. A parent or guardian must consent before a student under 18 takes the assessment, and the assessor will confirm this. A parent or guardian may ask us at any time to see, correct, or delete their child’s information.
How long we keep it
- Payment records: as long as accounting law requires.
- School-code and access-token records: up to 12 months, then deleted.
- Assessment answers and reports: for as long as needed to deliver and support your report, and deleted on request.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you the information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it. Email support@shiftcareer.net and we will reply within 7 days.
How we protect it
Everything travels over HTTPS. Payments are verified server to server, never from the browser. Database access is locked to our server with row-level security, and no assessment answers are stored on this site.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page. See also our terms of service.
